Music has always been a very big part of my life. I grew up on a mix of country, Christian, and rock music. Growing up in the church, I stood in front of a live band every Sunday morning. I loved the music part of church so much, and when I discovered concerts, my life was made better forever. The fact that you are able to go see the artists you listen to every day sing your favorite songs in person will never not be amazing to me. Concerts also introduced me to artists that opened for the main artists that I never would have found without going to the show.
Noah Kahan is an artist that I had always been looking for. He has a voice that is so raw and real, and his lyrics are meaningful and specific in a way that I feel like he's read my journals. Noah Kahan is also not afraid to push the boundaries of genre. People have classified his music as folk, pop, indie, and sometimes country. It's apparent that his music isn't just made to make money because of the level of care he shows to his work.
Noah Kahan, along with many other artists, have allowed me to gain community with many people and grow closer to those already in my life. One of my favorite memories with my friend Clara is of us seeing Tame Imapala before Kevin Parker blew up on the internet. I flew to Arizona to see Noah Kahan at Inning's Fest with my friend Zoie. The way I became close with my friend Ria by going to see artists we both love after discovering we had very similar tastes in music. Music has brought me a level of connectedness I never thought possible.
