Hi all! My name is Taylor Lafe, and I am a DMI student at Texas State University .
I am very grateful that being at Texas State has brought me to DMI. I began at Texas State as a photography major; but as someone who has been doing photography for years, I didn't feel that I was learning much. Going through the DMI program has introduced me to a passion for social meida and design that I've grown to be excited about pursuing in the future. When I took advanced social media, I found myself being excited to learn and more engaged than I'd ever been in college classes. Looking forward to class makes me feel good about looking forward to potential future jobs.
Regardless of how excited I am about my new major, I want to end up eventually doing photogrpahy full time. Photography is the best job I've ever had. It has introduced me to some of the coolest people and allowed me to capture some of the best moments of those people's lives. It feels incredibly humbling to be trusted to take the photos people will be looking back on for the rest of their lives. It has also made me appreciate the directorial side as well as the technical side of art.
Media of all kind has always been always been very important to me, but I've always had an affinity for all things on televison. From watching cooking shows with my mom growing up, to binging almost every show on Bravo the last couple of years, to counting down the days to the next Christopher Nolan movie, televison has always been a big part of my life. Music has also been very important to me because it's always brought me a sense of peace and sanity. I think it's special that artists of all genres are able to bring community to all kinds of different gorups because of the type of music they make or what they're saying in their songs. The ability for media of all sorts to reach people will forever amaze me.
